ST. LOUIS – March 8, 2023 – The Biz Dash 5K presented by World Wide Technology is springing up the calendar with the 2023 edition of “St. Louis’ Healthiest Happy Hour” scheduled for Thursday, May 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. at St. Louis CITY SC’s downtown stadium, CITYPARK. The Biz Dash annually brings the St. Louis business community together promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and building team camaraderie with co-workers and friends in a fun atmosphere featuring music, food, drinks, entertainment, and a 5K run/walk.
“The St. Louis Sports Commission is proud of the enthusiasm surrounding the Biz Dash and building on last year’s record-breaking turnout as we return to St. Louis CITY SC’s beautiful CITYPARK campus in Downtown St. Louis,” said Sports Commission Senior Vice President Chris Roseman. “We anticipate seeing even more companies from across the region represented at St. Louis’ Healthiest Happy Hour this spring, and thousands of people getting excited about celebrating a healthy, active lifestyle.”
Normally a late summer/fall event, the Biz Dash is moving to the spring with a registration price of $45 per participant from now until May 1 and $50 from May 2 through May 17 when registration will close. The registration fee includes a soft style Biz Dash t-shirt, complimentary post-race beverage, race bib, timing chip, and Biz Dash koozie. Companies from across the St. Louis region register teams made up of their employees, all converging on Lou Fusz Plaza at CITYPARK for an event that combines health and fitness with an energetic happy-hour vibe.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the St. Louis Sports Commission and host the Biz Dash again at CITYPARK,” said St. Louis CITY SC Chief Revenue Officer Dennis Moore. “The Biz Dash aligns with St. Louis CITY SC’s vision to promote health and wellness and unite the community through the power of sports and exercise.”
Now in its eighth year, the Biz Dash saw its largest participation yet in 2022 with more than 7,000 race registrants representing 274 companies and organizations from across the region. The 5K course is planned to travel through the heart of Downtown St. Louis, passing by Union Station, Stifel Theatre, Citygarden, Busch Stadium, Kiener Plaza, and with great views of the Gateway Arch.
“We’re so excited to welcome the Biz Dash to Downtown St. Louis for good, healthy fun at the new state-of-the-art CITYPARK,” said Mayor Tishaura O. Jones. “The Biz Dash brings in thousands of participants Downtown, activating surrounding neighborhoods and supporting local businesses.”
Runners and walkers of all levels are encouraged to participate on their company team. Companies may register an unlimited number of employees. Each participating company will have the opportunity to customize its preferred payment method including absorbing employee registration costs, covering a percentage of each registration, or having employees pay their own entry fee. If your organization is not participating, you can register as an individual on the St. Louis Sports Foundation team and enjoy this one-of-a-kind event.
World Wide Technology is in its sixth year as the presenting sponsor of the Biz Dash. “A big part of our culture is to give back to our communities where we live, work, and play, and have an environment for our employees to lead active and healthy lives in and out of the workplace,” said World Wide Technology CFO Tom Strunk. “To be able to get together and support an event like this in Downtown St. Louis, it’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
The Biz Dash would not be possible without the generous support of its sponsors, which in 2022 included World Wide Technology, Spire, Bally Sports Midwest, Edward Jones, Enterprise Holdings, Equifax, SSM Health, Wells Fargo Advisors, HBM Holdings, GFI Digital, First Bank, AT&T, Zelis, Amplified Digital, and Tiny Little Monster. The Biz Dash is produced by the St. Louis Sports Commission. Proceeds from the event benefit the St. Louis Sports Foundation, the Sports Commission’s 501c3 charitable affiliate. The Foundation’s newest program, Let ‘em Play, was launched in August 2022 with a messaging campaign centered on reminding youth sports parents, coaches, fans, and players that referees are to be respected and unsportsmanlike behavior is unacceptable.
